Hi Everyone! Ryan here from the Celiac Cruise team! Welcome to Day 1 of our European River Cruise blog series! I’ll be documenting the next 8 days here on our blog as the team travels from Prague to Vilshofen, boards the AmaLea, and sails along the Danube River to Budapest. Throughout the week, we’ll be working with AmaWaterways and local venues to prepare for our back-to-back 100% gluten-free river cruises coming up this fall! Don’t forget to check out our home page for more info on those sailings if you are interested in joining us.

After our red eye flights, Maureen and I rendezvoused in Prague where we began the day with a meeting at the Hilton Prague Old Town – the hotel that will be hosting our pre- and post-cruise guests this October. We met with Chef Valerio and Veronika from the hotel food and beverage team to discuss gluten-free options, needs, and protocols for our guests to ensure that the team was aware of the importance of this matter. The Hilton team is very excited to bring their gluten-free menu items to our group come October.

Following this meeting, we set out on a short stroll around the city (ha! we actually covered well over 7 miles!) in search of some fantastic gluten-free options for our guests. We found an incredible gluten-free bakery with the most delicious, crusty baguette you have ever tasted! We enjoyed some unique and tasty gelato flavors (all gluten-free, plus gluten-free cones are available!). Lastly, we feasted on one of the most incredible Italian meals outside of Italy – from shrimp scampi, to lasagna, to tiramisu – everything was just magnifico!

All this talk about food, and I haven’t even gotten a chance to mention just how beautiful this city is. The architecture, the streets (so clean), the people (so friendly), and the weather! What a day this has been, and it is only the beginning of the trip! We have so much more to explore over the next week and I can’t wait to share it with all of you – so keep checking back here on our blog to read all about it! Don’t forget to check us out on social media as well @CeliacCruise on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok as we will be posting lots of great content there over the next week too!

Tomorrow, we head to meet the AmaLea in Vilhosofen, Germany – but not before spending the late morning/early afternoon in Regensburg first!
