Welcome back! Day 2 in Europe was a busy one for the Celiac Cruise team, and we have so much to share with you all! The morning started with a very early alarm to wake us and get us ready for our transfer from Prague to Vilshofen to meet the lovely AmaLea. After our AmaWaterways Cruise Manager met us and got us all checked in, our bags were loaded on the bus, and we were on our way!

After a beautiful drive through the Czech Republic and into the Bavarian countryside of Germany, we arrived in the quaint little town of Regensburg where our local guide met us and took us on a very informative tour of the old city. Following the tour, we had about an hour of free time for lunch, where we enjoyed some local sausages and sauerkraut before heading back to the bus to make the final leg of our journey to Vilshofen.

Just over an hour or so later, we crossed the beautiful Danube River and were greeted by the sight of our beautiful ship, the AmaLea! After a very quick check-in process, we were onboard with a delicious glass of bubbly in hand – and it was here that we finally met up with Connie to complete the team!

The ship remained docked in Vilshofen overnight and we were treated to a lovely German Oktoberfest party at the pier before enjoying our first dinner onboard. Let me say this – we will not be going hungry this week! The food was absolutely incredible, and the quality and attention to detail our food and beverage team provided to meeting our gluten-free needs was just amazing!

We ended the evening on the top deck watching the moon and enjoying a delicious glass of wine and each others’ company, having some great discussions about the amazing things to come for Celiac Cruise this year and next!

Next up, we head to Passau!
